How early should I arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive 5 or 10 minutes early to ensure that we can discuss goals for the session and so that you can relax before your massage.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
I understand that things come up. Please provide at least 24 hours notice for any cancellations.
Do I have to undress for a massage?
Some clients undress completely and others prefer to leave some clothing on. Your comfort is a priority. You will be covered with a sheet the entire massage and only the area that is being worked on is uncovered. For ladies, it is easiest if bras are removed because the straps are difficult to work around.
Can I get a massage if I'm under 18?
Yes, but if you are under 18, a parent or guardian will need to be present in the room during the massage.
Will you talk/may I talk during my massage?
It’s up to you! Some people like to chat while others prefer silence. As a therapist, I follow cues from my clients so that they have whatever experience they prefer. It is your massage, after all!
Do you take insurance?
Not at this time.
Will my massage hurt?
Some massage techniques may cause a little discomfort as tension or sore muscles are worked, but it should never be painful. Please let me know if you are experiencing any pain so that adjustments can be made.
What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during my massage?
Speak up immediately. Your comfort is my top priority and adjustments can always be made for pressure, technique, or positioning.
I was recently sick. Should I still get a massage?
If you have not fully recovered, please contact me to reschedule. Massage can exacerbate certain symptoms such as fever, and rescheduling helps me avoid getting sick myself and having to cancel appointments for other clients.
What if I fall asleep and snore or drool?
That’s okay! It means you’re relaxed which is always one of my goals for any massage. I take snoring as a compliment for my work!
What if I have acne or forgot to shave my legs?
No worries at all! As your therapist, it is my job to help you relax and heal, not to judge. Shaving or minor skin conditions won’t interfere with your massage, and they don’t bother me at all.
Can I bring my own oils or lotions?
Yes, but if you have specific skin sensitivities, please discuss it with me in advance. The products I use are unscented and hypoallergenic, but I am happy to make accommodations in most circumstances.
How often should I get a massage?
This depends on your needs and lifestyle. In general, I tell my clients that they know their own body better than anyone else. There is no official schedule for when someone should get a massage. Some clients receive a massage once per week, others schedule a massage only when they feel that their body needs it.
Am I required to tip?
Tipping is never required, but if you are happy with your service, a tip is always welcome and appreciated.
What should I do after my massage?
It is important to stay hydrated, rest, and listen to your body. Some soreness is not uncommon, especially after a deep tissue massage. Light stretching and heat application can help.
What if I get an erection during my massage?
This is a concern for many men, but it is important to know that any physical touch can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which can sometimes lead to an erection. As long as everything during the session is appropriate, it shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re still worried, you may want to wear more fitted underwear for extra support and coverage.
Please note: If I feel that the session has taken a sexual turn, I reserve the right to end the massage immediately. Sexual advances will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
